EPAL - a resting chair for women
A recycled resting chair made from an old EPAL for women

The 5 Ws
What: A resting chair made of an old EPAL
Why: With this chair made out of old planks made of a deconstructed EPAL, I hope to inspire a new take on using old materials and reusing them and elevate the discussion about the equality of measurements within the furniture industry.

Who: Myself
Before

Furniture measurements
By designing this chair for women's bodies, I wanted to highlight the inequality within the furniture industry made visible by Erik Berglund's book about measurements of furniture (Sittmöblers mått) where the exemplified model is a medium-sized man.

Lessons
The project was not only a learningful experience but also very fun. By trying to eliminate any waste parts, I hade to thoroughly plan and design the resting chair meticulously. This took its fair share of time but it fun doing it.
