EPAL - An unused resource?
Client:
Individual project
Year:
2020
With this project, I wanted to show the possibilities of using sustainable materials through reuse and refurbishment, central principles within a circular economy. By designing this chair for women's bodies, I wanted to highlight the inequality within the furniture industry made visible by Erik Berglund's book about measurements of furniture (Sittmöblers mått, rapport 50) where the exemplified model is a medium-sized man, and through discussions with Jacob Thunberg.
With this chair made out of old planks made of a deconstructed EPAL, I hope to inspire with a new take on using old materials and reusing them and elevate the discussion about the equality of measurements within the furniture industry.
